DESCRIPTION:Lion\, Lantern\, Lotus: Chinese and Buddhist Symbols in the Mactaggart Art Collection explores the combination of Buddhism and Chinese symbols on a Buddhist textile from China. This University of Alberta Museums exhibition highlights the rich Chinese-Buddhist visual culture and textiles found in the 17th century. \nThis online exhibition is a student-driven project that features planning\, research\, and work from the University of Alberta Museums Summer Intern and Mactaggart Art Collection Graduate Research Assistant (GRA).

SUMMARY:Chinese & Indigenous Youth Anti-Racism Workshop
DESCRIPTION:CBA (Chinese Benevolent Association) Youth Council is hosting an Anti-Racism Workshop with Enoch Cree Nation on Saturday\, February 19 from 2-5 pm  Mountain Time \nOverall:\nThis short one-day conference will bring together youth from\nEdmonton’s Indigenous and Chinese communities to share conversations\non racism and building relationships between the communities. Elders\nand activists from both backgrounds will share their knowledge and\nguide youth participants to think of tangible improvements that they\ncan make to support their community and combat racism in Edmonton.\nSpecial focus will be put on the experiences and potential future\ncooperation of Edmonton’s Chinese and Indigenous communities. \nLooking Back:\nThis session will focus on educating youth on the challenges faced by\nour communities and the history of leadership from Chinese and\nIndigenous Edmontonians. Speakers will share their knowledge and\nexperiences on racism and resistance\, and show the importance of\ncontinued action from youth. \nLooking Forward:\nThis session will focus on teaching youth about successful efforts to\nstrengthen the Chinese and Indigenous communities\, and potential\nconnections and cooperations between the two groups. Participants will\nbe guided through brainstorming ideas for what they can do (projects\nor everyday habits) to combat racism and work for a better future. \n  \nOnline meeting via Zoom
