DESCRIPTION:A PERMANENT EXHIBIT at THE MAH SOCIETY OF EDMONTON \nJourney of the Horse is committed to preserving the rich cultural heritage of Edmonton’s Chinese history. Our exhibit is a permanent installation on two levels in the Mah Society of Edmonton building.  \nThis two-part exhibit starts with a journey through the Mah Society of Edmonton’s rich\, 100+ year history. Visitors are encouraged to continue to level two\, to follow the journey of Chinese settlers in Alberta. Also housed on level two are our cultural practices archive and genealogy library. \nCome see our collection of fascinating objects and stories that illustrate the challenges and triumphs of Edmonton’s Chinese community. We invite you to immerse yourself in this historic experience and learn more about Edmonton’s Chinese past. \nOpen only on selected Saturdays and Sundays. \nPlease register for your complimentary entrance tickets. The exhibit is open from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. SUMMARY:Chinatown Live Music Series: Jia Jia Yong at Little Bonbon
DESCRIPTION:Jia Jia Yong is a harpist and composer based in Edmonton. She performs as a freelance musician at various events in Edmonton and area and also enjoys developing collaborative projects with other musicians and artists. Since 2021\, Jia Jia has developed multidisciplinary pieces that bring together Chinese traditional art forms\, such as calligraphy and martial arts\, with storytelling and music. In 2022\, Jia Jia received a grant from the Edmonton Arts Council to learn the modern konghou\, a Chinese harp\, becoming one of only a handful of players in North America.
