Bio
Timothy Leung graduated from the University of Alberta in 1998 with an Undergraduate degree in Economics and in 1991 with a Master’s Degree in Economics. In 2005, he graduated from the Executive MBA at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Timothy Leung recently retired as head of global sales and business development at Alibaba.com, the Chinese holding company whose web portals support consumer-to-consumer, business-to-consumer, and business-to-business sales services. The Alibaba Group’s mission is to make it easy to do business anywhere. It is the largest retail commerce company in the world, in terms of gross merchandise volume. Founded in 1999, the company provides the fundamental technology infrastructure and marketing reach to help merchants, brands and other businesses leverage the power of the Internet to engage with users and customers.

Mr. Leung is an internet/ecommerce pioneer with almost two decades of experience in the sector, ten years of it in senior Sales, Marketing, and Business Development positions. During his 22 year at Apple Inc. and Alibaba he worked across Asia and the Americas, gaining experience in Japan, Korea, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Turkey, Brazil and Peru. From 2012 to 2016, while leading Alibaba’s strategic planning, he championed global sales, development and management of the tens-of-millions member strong Alibaba.com platform in non-Greater China. Promoting the success of that strategy involved leading a dedicated strategy team, and developing government and business partnerships. In September 2016, for example, Alibaba Group and the Canadian Government signed a cooperation agreement to connect small businesses in Canada with Chinese Consumers.
