Canada Women’s National Team will return to Edmonton in 2014 for a marquee match-up against reigning FIFA Women’s World Cup Champions Japan at Commonwealth Stadium on Saturday 25 October.

The 25 October match will be the first of a series of two Women’s International Friendlies between Canada and Japan, the second match being played in Vancouver on 28 October.

“Canada Soccer is thrilled to announce another high profile International match for our Women’s National Team here in Edmonton,” said Peter Montopoli, Canada Soccer’s General Secretary. “Playing the reigning world champions Japan in a FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™ Official Host City not only provides our Women’s National Team with the best preparation possible, but also gives Alberta fans across the soccer community a tremendous opportunity to experience firsthand what the world’s best women’s soccer nations have to offer.”
