This summer, the Mitchell Art Gallery transforms into a studio space, where artists from Edmonton, Montreal, New York, and Hong Kong are exploring new dimensions of their artistic practice.

Join us for Olivia Chow’s free open studio event. Conceived during Chow’s five week long residency at the Mitchell Gallery, We Do Chicken Right is a performance reading that draws inspiration from personal stories and realizations based on the meals shared and dialogue exchanged with families from diasporic communities. Chow invites the audience to eat Kentucky Fried Chicken as the performance investigates how food connects us through the emotions of violence, politics and joy behind the food we, living in this post colonial society, eat without thinking.
