“Storytelling in Chinatown from Within” is a community film screening event in amiskwaciwâskahikan (ᐊᒥᐢᑲᐧᒋᐋᐧᐢᑲᐦᐃᑲᐣ) / Edmonton’s Chinatown. As part of the Coast to Coast in Community Tour for the award-winning documentary “Big Fight in Little Chinatown”, this event celebrates YEG Chinatown through live music, community booths, food, films and a filmmakers discussion.

Starting at 1pm, the event will begin with community booths, live music, and Chinatown snacks to gather and learn about storytelling efforts in our Chinatown. At 2pm, the film showings will begin with a special cut of the first episode of A Portrait of Chinatown by Jordon 寶軒 Hon. Following that will be a showing of BOWL CUTS by Vivian Han-Tat. Finally, the feature length film, Big Fight in Little Chinatown by Karen Cho, will be screened. A panel discussion with all 3 filmmakers, moderated by Lan Chan-Marples will take place afterwards to close out the event.
