Visit Reeds Bazaar on 1905 Street and learn about Chinese history and specifically the significance of goji berries in Edmonton. The 杞子茶屋 Goji Berries Tearoom exhibition runs August 3rd – September 17th, 2023 at Fort Edmonton Park.

Goji berries were brought to Edmonton by the first Chinese workers after the completion of the railway in the late 19th Century. Over the past three years, artist Yong Fei Guan has examined some of the untold histories through the lens of local gojis and their human companion. Her team has donated over 300 baby goji plants to the public, including the new Chinese Garden at Fort Edmonton Park located on 1905 Street. A tea conversation with the artist will be held once a week at Reeds Bazaar, where we will reflect on our own idea of “home” in the time of mass migration.
