Opened in 1913, the High Level Bridge is an important historical icon because it is the only bridge in western Canada to include automobile, rail, streetcar and pedestrian traffic. With seasonal vintage streetcars still in operation, it is now the world’s highest streetcar bridge crossing!

To honor the bridge’s 100th anniversary, the community fundraising initiative ‘Light the Bridge’ installed 60,000 programmable LED lights, which can be lit in specific colors or choreographed to music to celebrate special occasions.

On February 19, 2015 the High Level Bridge will be lit up to honour the Chinese  New Year of the Sheep.
